This beautiful extended family actually all started with the lovely couple in the middle who I happened to grow up with in California. Isn’t it crazy to think where your posterity could be at your 50th wedding anniversary? There’s something exceptional and beautiful about documenting large extended families.

When you’ve got huge groupings like this with little ones you really are on a race against the clock to keep their attention. We started with the big group picture because that one was the most important and then depending on the kid we either tried to get their family photos done next or have them a break to run around for a bit and came back to them. Both of those strategies seemed to work for all the kids here.

Another unique thing about large extended family sessions is you get pictures with family members you probably haven’t had pictures with in a long time. So take the opportunity to get pictures with your cousins, siblings, nieces or nephews, grandparents, even some parents and kids don’t live close to one another. I know these professional pictures will bless this family so much.
