How to Take Your Own Baby Milestone Pictures | Bend Oregon Family Photographer

How do babies grow so fast! I swear I blinked and Soren exploded in height and cuteness. I cannot resist a baby in a romper or bonnet. Especially monochrome baby fashion. I ordered this onesie for Soren and though I think I got the sizing wrong on it it's still cute nonetheless. This embroidered boy’s onesie is cozy, is perfect for our rising summer tempts and my little man looks good in Olive green if I do say so myself.

I'll be honest, I have not been great about capturing regular monthly milestone pictures. But I knew I had to get my camera out and snap a few of this sweet boy after I put him in this outfit. Soren is the happiest, smiliest and those big blue eyes and that mouth full of teeth melt me every time. You don't have to have a DSLR camera to get some good pictures of your baby, iPhones and smartphones work great.

Here's a few tips for taking you're own baby's milestone pictures :

  1. 1) Find some good natural light (meaning sunshine coming in somewhere in the house, not house lights) and start there! Soren's room has the best natural light in the morning. It shines right on the guest bed which is where we took these.

2) Keep it simple! You don't have to have accessories or letter boards if you don't want to. Sometimes these can overwhelm baby. Don't feel pressure to do all that if you don't want to.

3) Have a toy above that makes noise or will get baby's attention so then they're looking at the camera. A rattle or squeaky toy can get giggles out of baby as well which it did here!

I hope these tips help! Check out some of my other pictures I’ve done in my house with some of these same tips!
