Smith Rock State Park Extended Family Photoshoot | Bend Oregon Photographer
I pinch myself every time I get to do a family photo shoot at Smith Rock State Park just outside of Bend. It is seriously awe inspiring and breath taking every SINGLE TIME. And there is no wrong place to take pictures down there because every angle is beautiful and it is even more so at sunset! SO consider me on my knees from behind my key board begging you to put this one on your list if you are visiting Bend. The Jaquish Family came to Eagle Crest Resort, in Redmond from Washington and Idaho. When I learned about the Jaquish Family and what they like to do, it was obvious that the outdoors were very important to them and they wanted a location for their pictures that showed their love for nature. Helllllllllllo Smith Rock.
I love vacations and a chance to see family that you haven't see in a long time, so I can feel the happiness when a big family shows up for a session and the family vacation excitement hasn't worn off yet. It's also so fun to see the different dynamics of grandparents with their grand babies they aren't with often, uncles with nieces and nephews and grandparents being able to look at their posterity and the life that they have created together.
This was my first "cold" session for this Hawaii girl. The temperatures dropped the day of our pictures and we had cold cold wind. At times, I offer the opportunity to reschedule a session when weather is just miserable. But these guys didn't have another day to do them. I want you to know, if you find yourself in the same situation, that we can still absolutely make it work, and make a few adjustments to how we run the session, to be sure that everyone stays warm, and I PROMISE we can still get great pictures for you.
The Jaquish Family was such a joy to capture, some photographers are overwhelmed by large groups of people, especially extended family dynamics but I think they are some of my favorite to capture! There are so many unique relationships and dynamics to photograph which I make sure I do! You want sibling pictures? Just the girls? Just the couples? we knock out every combination and variation you want during our session. These grandkids were the highlight of the session. This little girl was the happiest and smiliest little thing. And can you even tell how cold it was from the pictures other than what they're wearing? I don't think so! We took breaks between shots to bundle up and wipe runny noses but an hour flies by, I promise.
If you're headed to Bend for a family vacation and thinking that it's time to update family pictures while everyone is together, make me your girl to do it! I can soften any grumpy grandpa, win over the crazy uncles and keep hoards of kids happy all while everyone is having fun.
