Dillon Falls Family Pictures | Bend Oregon Photographer
I love this family. These were some of our first friends we met when we moved to Bend. OR and they have been so good to us! It’s even more special to get to take pictures of them as their family photographer this season. Christina and I found each other through mutual friends actually. I am always grateful when the world feels a little smaller. Christina has been my go to girl for hiking Pilot Butte, last minute park dates and a sound board as she handles her five little ones with an awesome attitude, while tackling homeschooling this year while Sam, her husband, travels often for work. These five kids are all energy and loud and fun all the time. But I love seeing their relationships an dhow they play and care and look out for one another. That's a really special thing to be able to witness as a friend and to capture as a photographer. That's always my goal with any session, to be able to photograph your season and each personality accurately. Though there is always a bit more pressure when taking pictures for a good friend, as you obviously don't want to disappoint them, being able to capture special moments like I did is really such a pleasure and a huge compliment that they would feel confident in picking me. Anyways, blah blah we get it Bailey, let's see some more pictures.
This was my first session up at the infamous Dillon Falls, and it did NOT disappoint. I took my kids up earlier in the week to scope out the area and it was beautiful from every angle and every turn. The fall colors and the tall gold grass with the water running off to the side, it really was beautiful. Dillon Falls is a great spot not even 30 minutes from town! I love the lighting up there and the way the sun sets and gives beautiful golden lighting on all the scenery.
I love the accents of purple these guys threw in. I don't see a lot of purple actually when I do my shoots, not sure why. But I really liked the look of it with the other earthy tones they paired it with. Also, I love a shoot when these little boys come dressed with "church" shoes or shirts tucked in and 2 minutes in, shoes are totally dusty and shirts are no way tucked in anymore. Just a good dose of reality of the season you're in with little ones.
I asked Christina what was important for me to capture with her family and I loved that it had to do with kids physical features, whether that be their eye color or a candid smile, a kids current mullet trend (i'll let you figure out which one has the mullet), or the way a kid laughs so hard throwing their head back. I take all of these things into account that you tell me and I do everything I can to set up an environment where everyone feels comfortable to allow these moments to unfold and capture what you're hoping for.
Having a family this big, there is always someone to play with (or bother, let's be honest haha), someone to look out for, and someone to laugh with. I am so glad I was able to capture this season of life for the Christensen family and hope you see from these pictures that regardless of the size of personalities of your kids, the results are worth it!
