The Best Pumpkin Patches Near Bend, Oregon
Despite Covid and not all the regular fall activities open, we have still made a valid effort to find the best pumpkin patches in Bend. We have been hitting up all the Fall stuff we can in between preschool days and weekly appointments, which really feels like not much time, but its been a great way to break up the regular part of our weeks and do something seasonal the kids haven't experienced before and hang with friends! Pumpkin Patches of all kinds have been a hit around here and Bend has so many in town and some other great ones in Terrebonne and Redmond.
DD RANCH- TERREBONNE, OREGON
First thing we did a few weeks back was DD Ranch. This cute little family owned farm is on the way to Smith Rock. I love the small town feel of it, the farm animals we could see around the property and all the kid activities they had in addition to their pumpkin patch. We grabbed some friends and spent the morning enjoying this cute spot that offered so much more than just pumpkins!
When you get there, it is free to enter, but you can pay for additional activities you want to participate in. They had so many options it was hard to narrow down. We picked three and it took up a good chunk of time! The three we picked were the pony rides, "kids corral" which was an area full of a hay maze, a giant slide to race down in potato sacks (the kids could have done this one forever), play ground equipment, and tractor rides. We had nothing like this in Hawaii where we were so watching my kids being able to experience this kind of stuff with friends for the first time was so fun.
There were picnic tables scattered around which also made it easy to have lunch before we headed back to try and make nap time. Once we were leaving, the crowds started to show up, so I would suggest going in the morning right when they open! If you want a smaller pumpkin patch to check out this is a great one!
Schilling’s Garden Market and Nursery
On a separate day we went to Schillings Nursery in just outside of Bend mostly because I heard "pumpkin patch" so I figured we should check it out and it wasn't as far as DD ranch. It was crazy windy this day, which made us the only ones there and freezing partially to death but a little forced fun never hurt anyone lol. I loved how they had wagons you could use to put your own pumpkins in, fall themed interactive cut outs for the kids and their pumpkins were organized really well. Schilling’s Garden Market is free to enter, just pay for the pumpkins you want.
The kids loved pulling the wagons for the pumpkins and exploring their greenhouses! The greenhouses were the perfect escape from the brutal wind we experienced this day. It was a great area to bring a stroller and walk around. We even saw a big giant dinosaur in one of the corners of the property. I'm so glad we get to experience a real Fall this year and it's so special being a parent getting to watch your kids experience it to!
