Family Pictures at Smith Rock State Park | Bend Oregon Photographer
The Cox family was gearing up for a move from Bend to move closer to family and wanted their last set of family pictures to document their time here. Smith Rock is an iconic spot near Bend and wouldn't it be so cool to have your family pictures here? There's really no where else like it.
Smith Rock is just 35 minutes past Bend, in a town called Terrebonne. It has great hiking, landscape and areas for picnics on top and rock climbing if that's your thing. We love going there early in the morning because parking can be difficult later in the day and hot! Smith Rock is definitely one of the must see spots when you come to visit Central Oregon.
These kids loved exploring along the trails, collecting rocks and checking out the views from down below. Each kid in your family is different and its important to me to document them accurately. Sometimes I get kids who prefer to be silly, or shy and others who love smiling for the camera. I want to document them in all their little sides and personalities. SO as you'll see here we got some silly faces in here from this little boy but the parents told me this is how he is, so I wouldn't want him to not act or be who he's not ha.
The Cox family showed up in beautiful earth tones that stood out nicely against the landscape of Smith Rock. When planning your family pictures you want to pick colors that will help you guys stand out (not bold or vibrant colors) against whatever the location looks like. That way you're not blending in and all you can see is a bunch of floating heads haha. This used to happen from time to time when we lived in Hawaii and I would take family pictures at the beach and everyone would show up in Blues and tans. Pick earth tones and some subtle patterns to help keep the focus on your family and how awesome you guys look and avoid distracting patterns and logos on clothes.
If you ever find yourself in Bend and want a really cool spot for pictures, Smith Rock State Park is a great option!!
