Tips for Planning your Maternity Pictures- Bend Maternity Photographer

I have been getting more and more maternity injuries which is so exciting! Maternity totally falls under "Family photographer" to me. You're starting your family and it should definitely be documented and you want to feel beautiful in these as this is such a unique season of life you're in! Here are some tips if you fall under this category of "expecting" and have never had maternity pictures done before:

1) You should plan maternity pictures during your third trimester, specifically between 28-32 weeks. You don’t want to run the risk of the baby coming early and having to miss these all together. This time frame is typically a safe window to have them done and also not feel hugely uncomfortable and swollen. 🤰Don't wait til 38-39 weeks and be miserable waddling around, breathing through braxton hicks and you're feet barely fit in your shoes. Doing them during the above window of time will help you avoid all that.

2) Now is your opportunity to pamper yourself! If this is your first, it may be a while again til you get the time for getting your hair and makeup done. If maternity pictures are something you want done, look into getting your makeup professionally done and getting those roots touched up or have a HMUA do your hair so you feel confident and beautiful coming into your session. Also a manicure is a good idea as well since your hands will be on your belly for a lot of pictures! Take the opportunity to come looking your best to your session. And whether you want to get all three done or just one, it will all benefit you in looking and feeling confident for your session.

3) Bring along any sentimental items: ultrasound, cute chalk board or letter board, whatever is important to you we can incorporate into our session. Also this could be your fur-baby if they’re your first love. 🐶 I have had clients bring cute letter boards with the month baby is due, an ultra sounds to incorporate, or a little baby outfit. This just breaks up all the belly holding and give more variety to the type of pictures you'll get back in your final gallery. These guys brought their adorable golden retriever and she was so fun to have in some of the pictures.

4) Last go with stretchy fabrics that you will look and feel comfortable. Now isn’t the time to try and fit into anything pre-pregnancy unless it stretches well. You can spice it up with some fun sleeves or a cute pattern and ruffles. Maternity pictures don't happen often, you can add buying a new dress for yourself that would be flattering and show off your changing body beautifully. Some ideas are wrap dresses, cute rompers and jumpsuits. Here are some ideas below.

I hope these tips help and if you are expecting parents let's get in touch for your maternity pictures!
